Although a month or two ago, the word was out that due to budget constraints there would be NO fireworks this year at the annual July 4th celebration!  This has happened other years as well and somehow, someone or a generous company comes through with the funds to allow this tradition to continue.  The fireworks are on and the festivities are set to begin...

You have to understand what the locals have known for years.  The July 4th celebration is serious stuff for the town and one of the biggest celebrations around.  Are Franklinians more patriotic or do they just enjoy a good time?  Well I don't know but I do know that the celebration has something for everyone of every age.  There are youth and adult bands--even a piano player, named Mark Stankard will be debuting with "Victims of Gravity", a rock-style band, on Wednesday evening!  There are also road races, food of all kinds-some even healthy, many family activities, carnival rides/games and of course a parade.  This parade is one of the largest in the area as well.  Fire trucks from all over the state make their appearance to the usually large crowds.

The festivities begin on Wednesday July 1st and continue through Sunday July 5th.  Be sure to stop by to check it out and enjoy the official start of summer...
